Dedicated and diligent in achieving goals. Once I start something I am super focused on completing it. My instructional coach once commented, "How do you get so much done so quickly?" I think it is my single-mindedness, I like to be finished with tasks...lol, sometimes simply to check it off my list!
Meticulously attentive accuracy. I can think through the details of systems and their success. For example, my principal asked me to help our instructional coach put together a Master Schedule that included a day for teachers to be without students. For a school of over 1,000 students, this required a lot of attention to the details. I created an excel spreadsheet that detailed all rotating staff and students.
Within 2 months of becoming a teacher, my Canvas Course surpassed my fellow teachers. I quickly learn new programs. One of my hobbies is photography, I use Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom to edit photos and create digital scrapbook pages for my family...I have won contests for my abilities with digital scrapbook design. I think my knowledge within these programs extends into curriculum design and gives me the ability to navigate LMS systems easily.
At the beginning of this school year I taught multiple classes for professional development. Blended Learning, Advanced Canvas Design, and Best Ways to Communicate with Parents.
Every new program I have been introduced to as a teacher I have learned quickly and have oftentimes been asked to teach colleagues how to use.
Initiative is a difficult skill to find in an employee. Someone who can be introduced to their job and see what needs to be done without being directly instructed. I am able to do this. I have done enough training to recognize that many do not have this skill. I am old enough that I know when not to step on toes, but when to complete tasks without having to be told every single time.
I recently had a district curriculum specialist come and observe me. She said as she was leaving, "You are one of those kind of people who can teach anything, aren't you?"
I love presenting and teaching. I really wanted to become a motivational speaker when I was in college! ha! I fell right into teaching because of this desire!
